Two individuals sentenced to 20 years in prison for sending drugs via bus.
Tran Ngoc Thanh bought 10 packets of methamphetamine and sent them by bus to Tran Huy Ngoc in Dien Chau. When the police searched Ngoc's residence, the transaction was discovered, revealing a drug trafficking operation between the two individuals.
On December 10th, the People's Court of Nghe An province tried Tran Ngoc Thanh (35 years old) and Tran Huy Ngoc (42 years old) for the crime of "Illegal trafficking of narcotics".
According to the case file, Tran Ngoc Thanh (35 years old, residing in An Chau commune) and Tran Huy Ngoc (42 years old, residing in Duc Chau commune) knew each other beforehand. Ngoc, a long-time drug addict, called Thanh and asked him to buy 10 packets of methamphetamine for 50 million VND. Thanh contacted a woman in the former Que Phong district and bought the drugs for 40 million VND, then brought them back to Nghe An.

After bringing the drugs home, Thanh packed them into cardboard boxes and sent them by bus for Ngoc to receive in the Dien Chau area. Upon receiving the "goods," Ngoc used a portion immediately due to withdrawal symptoms, and hid the rest in various places in the house, preparing to sell it retail for profit.
On the afternoon of January 6, 2025, when police from Dien Chau district (formerly) came to her house to conduct an investigation related to compulsory drug rehabilitation, Ngoc tried to dispose of a plastic bottle containing many drug pills but was discovered. During a search of her residence, authorities seized a total of over 209 grams of drugs.
Upon hearing that his accomplice had been arrested, Thanh fled to Lam Dong province and returned to Nghe An province in October 2025, where he was apprehended.
At the trial, the two defendants admitted to the crime. Thanh confessed to profiting 10 million VND from the transaction. The court sentenced each defendant to 20 years in prison.
