On his Facebook page, Nguyen Ha Dong said that this record “has no meaning, but in fact it is still a life achievement”.
The 2016 Guinness Book of World Records devoted a third of its page to Nguyen Ha Dong's journey before achieving success with Flappy Bird. According to the book, he had a passion for games since he was a child and wrote his own program at the age of 16. The device that Dong "loved" the most was the Nintendo console that his parents bought for him.
Flappy Bird was designed to target the time when users are on the go and often use only one hand to use. This application was released on the App Store in May 2013 but became famous a few months later. At its peak, Flappy Bird brought Ha Dong about 50,000 USD per day and became a fever not only in Vietnam but also around the world.
Since Flappy Bird disappeared from the App Store, mobile phones that had downloaded the game have continued to make a killing reselling it through eBay. Many “Flappy Bird” clones have also appeared on the App Store.
