On his Facebook page, Nguyen Ha Dong stated that this record "means nothing, but in reality, it is still a life achievement."

The 2016 Guinness Book of Records dedicates a third of a page to Nguyen Ha Dong's journey before achieving success with Flappy Bird. According to the book, he had a passion for games from a young age and wrote his own program at 16. His favorite device was the Nintendo console his parents bought him.

The game Flappy Bird was written to cater to users who often only use one hand while traveling. The app was released on the App Store in May 2013 but only became popular a few months later. At its peak, Flappy Bird generated approximately $50,000 per day for Ha Dong and became a sensation not only in Vietnam but also worldwide.

Since Flappy Bird disappeared from the App Store, mobile phones that had downloaded the game have continued to thrive by reselling it through online marketplaces like eBay. Numerous "Flappy Bird clones" have also flooded the App Store.
