​Defeating Federer, Zverev wins the 2017 Canada Open

Early morning of August 14 (Vietnam time), 20-year-old German tennis player Alexander Zverev caused a surprise when he defeated Swiss legend Roger Federer 2-0 (6-3, 6-4) in the final match to win the 2017 Canadian Open tennis championship.

In contrast to the last meeting between the two players in the final of the Halle Open, Zverev (ranked 7th in the world) played very confidently and overwhelmed his senior player Federer (36 years old).

The turning point of the first set came in the fourth game, when Federer made two mistakes, allowing Zverev to break and take a 3-1 lead. In the following games, the young German played with great confidence, making no mistakes, allowing Federer to exploit them and win the first set 6-3.

In the second set, Zverev played solidly while Federer lost focus in the 7th game and let the 16-year-old player get a break point. This turning point helped Zverev win 6-4 against Federer and become the 2017 Canadian Open champion.

This is Zverev's 5th title in 2017. In addition, the 2017 Canada Open championship also helped him make history as the youngest player to win this tournament in the past 10 years.
