Despite taking the lead, Coach Park Hang-seo's players continued to actively organize attacks. The result came after a group coordination on the right wing. Once again, captain Do Hung Dung played the hero role when he made the decisive pass to put Nguyen Tien Linh in a position where he could not help but score with a powerful shot that hit the opponent's net. In the 16th minute, the Vietnamese team led the Chinese team 2-0.

"Being doused with two buckets of cold water in a row", the away team's players showed a lack of flexibility. Their attacks were either inaccurate or completely neutralized by the Vietnamese team's defense. On the contrary, after taking a 2-goal lead, the red-shirt players implemented their signature strategy of tight defense and quick counterattacks. And the first half ended with 2 goals for the Vietnamese team and 3 yellow cards for the Chinese team.

Entering the second half, with nothing to lose, the Chinese players flooded into the Vietnamese team's field, with a series of dangerous attacks. In the 49th minute, the ball was put into the net of goalkeeper Tran Nguyen Manh, but the goal was not recognized due to offside. The match gradually passed in the helplessness of the white-shirted strikers, despite coach Li Xiaopeng sending in reserve players one after another.
Not only were they unable to score against their own team, the Chinese players were also constantly threatened by Nguyen Quang Hai and his teammates with lightning-fast counterattacks. One of those was converted into a goal to raise the score to 3 - 0 in the 76th minute by Phan Van Duc, a substitute player. Before the referee blew the final whistle, the opposing team also managed to score an honorary goal by Xu Xin. In the end, the Vietnamese team defeated the Chinese team with a score of 3 - 1.
With this victory, Coach Park Hang-seo and his team have earned the first 3 points in the final qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia, and are temporarily still at the bottom of Group B./.
