Djokovic defeated Ferrer and advanced to the final.
The first semi-final of the men's singles at the 2013 Australian Open was a one-sided affair as world number one Novak Djokovic quickly defeated David Ferrer after 1 hour and 29 minutes of play with a decisive 3-0 victory (set scores were 6-2, 6-2, and 6-1).
"This was one of the best fights of my career. I have two days off ahead of me and it will help me recover my fitness for the final," Djokovic happily stated.

It seems that having to endure a tense five-set match lasting 3 hours and 44 minutes against Nicolas Almagro in the quarterfinals left Ferrer not at his best in this match.
Speaking after the match, Ferrer bitterly admitted: "Djokovic played too well and was completely superior to me. I had no chance of winning this match."
Nevertheless, the Spanish player can be somewhat satisfied because by reaching the semi-finals of this year's Australian Open, he has replaced Nadal at world number 4.
The Serbian player's opponent in the final will be the winner of the other semi-final match between Roger Federer and Andy Murray.
If Djokovic wins the final, he will achieve a remarkable feat – becoming the first player to win this tournament three times in a row since Roy Emerson completed his fifth consecutive title 46 years ago.
