Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) chief David Shoemaker issued a statement saying Canada is appealing the points deduction: "In support of the women's players, together with the Canadian Soccer Federation, we are considering the right to appeal the six-point deduction at this Olympic tournament."

Canadian Soccer CEO Kevin Blue issued a statement in support of the players, confirming their intention to appeal. "We are exploring options for the Canadian women's team to appeal because this sanction is too harsh for them, who have not engaged in any unethical conduct," Blue said. "Canadian Soccer acted quickly to suspend the relevant staff and is also conducting an extensive independent review that could lead to further disciplinary action."

Shooter Trinh Thu Vinh missed out on a medal at the Paris Olympics

On the evening of July 28 (Vietnam time), fans and the Vietnamese sports delegation focused on the final of the women's 10m air pistol event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 8 shooters in the final of the women's 10m air pistol event are Kim Yeji (Korea), Tarhan Sevval Ilayda (Türkiye), Li Xue (China), Oh Ye Jin (Korea), Major Veronika (Hungary), Trinh Thu Vinh (Vietnam), Bhaker Manu (India), Jiang Ranxin (China).

We expect Trinh Thu Vinh to have the best result, a medal, because she competed quite calmly in the qualifying round.

Trinh Thu Vinh missed out on a medal at the Paris Olympics.

In fact, Trinh Thu Vinh played brilliantly in the final round. Her shots were very accurate and brought her high scores. At one point, she rose to 3rd place.

But the more she competed, the more her direct opponent, Manu Bhaker, showed her excellence. Bhaker continuously scored over 10 points and only had one shot that scored 9.9 points. Meanwhile, Thu Vinh seemed to be out of breath. Despite performing to the best of her ability, the Vietnamese shooter still had to accept 4th place overall, narrowly missing out on a medal.

Trinh Thu Vinh's 4th place finish is regrettable for Vietnamese shooting, but anyway, this is her first time participating in the Olympics so this achievement is really remarkable.

In the final results of the women's 10m air pistol event, with 243.2 points, Oh Ye-jin of Korea broke the Olympic record and won the Gold Medal. Oh Ye-jin's compatriot Kim Ye-ji won the Silver Medal with 241.3 points. The Bronze Medal went to Bhaker Manu of India.
