Hanoi will place a metro station near Hoan Kiem Lake.
Hanoi leaders agreed on the location, master plan, and solution for the underground station entrance and exit located in the Hoan Kiem Lake area.
The Hanoi People's Committee has just announced the conclusion of the leadership on the contents of underground station C9 (Hoan Kiem Lake area) of the Urban Railway Project No. 2, Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao section.
Accordingly, Hanoi leaders basically agreed on the location, master plan, and solution of not arranging a roof at entrances 3 and 4 (behind Ba Kieu Temple and the restroom area on the shore of Hoan Kiem Lake).
To create consensus in implementation, the city will invite the Ministry of Culture, scientists, and experts to discuss and clarify related content.

Previously, the Ministry of Culture sent a document requesting Hanoi to further study the location of the station's entrances and exits, because it had not received consensus from a number of experts, including members of the National Cultural Heritage Council.
The Ministry of Culture believes that the locations of the entrances and exits in the current planning are within the protected area of special national relics (Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple), which are important areas associated with the legends, history and culture of the capital. At the same time, this is also a space with aesthetic and landscape values, serving the public living needs of the people.
In 2013, there was mixed public opinion when Hanoi approved the proposal of the Department of Planning and Architecture to place the C9 station in front of the Hanoi Electricity Corporation on Dinh Tien Hoang Street.
Railway line No. 2 (Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao section) has its starting point at Nam Thang Long (Ciputra urban area), following Nguyen Van Huyen extended street - Hoang Quoc Viet - Hoang Hoa Tham - Thuy Khue - Phan Dinh Phung - Hang Giay - Hang Duong - Hang Ngang - Hang Dao - Dinh Tien Hoang - Hang Bai - the end point intersects with Tran Hung Dao street. The entire line has 10 stations (3 elevated stations and 7 underground stations). According to the approved plan, the railway line is 11.5 km long (of which 8.5 km will run underground through the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake and surrounding areas). The total investment of the project is about 131 billion Japanese Yen, equivalent to 19,556 billion VND, using ODA loans from the Japanese Government and counterpart funds from the state budget. It is expected that in 2017, the train will have 4 cars and in phase 2 (after 2017) it will increase to 6 cars. |
