Currently, Hanoi has a regulation that entertainment venues do not operate after midnight, but this regulation will be removed soon.

Responding to Infonet reporters on this issue, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said that this is a policy that has been discussed very carefully by Hanoi People's Committee and plans have been made for implementation.

In a short time, Hanoi will decide to remove the “curfew” regulation for entertainment venues. Accordingly, these places will be allowed to operate all night if there are guests.

Hanoi will remove the "curfew" regulation for entertainment venues.

This is a policy to concretize the Resolution of the Hanoi Party Committee on developing tourism in the capital for the period 2016-2020 and the following years, signed by Secretary of the Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai on June 26.

Accordingly, the Resolution sets out that by 2020, tourism will truly become a spearhead economic sector of the Capital, with high growth rate, speed and quality, professionalism, a synchronous and modern technical infrastructure system; high-quality, diverse, branded and highly competitive tourism products; imbued with the cultural identity of the nation and the Capital, environmentally friendly; making Hanoi a safe, friendly, quality and attractive destination for tourists, worthy of being a large and important tourist center of the country and the region, making a worthy contribution to the common achievements of the cause of building and developing the Capital.

By 2020, Hanoi aims to welcome 30 million visitors, including 5.7 million international visitors, with an average growth rate of 8-10% per year. Total revenue from tourists by 2020 will reach 120,000 billion VND, with an average growth rate of 15-17% per year. Average room occupancy rate of accommodation establishments and hotels will reach 60-65%. Provide vocational training and tourism knowledge training for 100% of employees working in service establishments and tourism management staff.

Talking further with Infonet reporters about the above policy, a cultural management expert in Hanoi said that this is a very good decision for tourists, meeting the needs of cultural and spiritual enjoyment, especially for international tourists. Previously, Hanoi's regulation that bars and entertainment venues must close before 24 hours was quite unreasonable, "because we do tourism but tourists have no place to play is unreasonable" - this person said.

However, the question is, if this decision is implemented, the authorities must pay attention to the management issue. “In my opinion, the “curfew” regulation should not be removed from all venues, but should only focus on a few large-scale venues with professional management capacity. In particular, these places must have regulations for screening guests and age limits, not be mixed, anyone can enter and anyone can leave,” this expert emphasized.
