Ha Tran responds to rumors: 'People, they speak with their mouths, they listen with their ears'
The singer confided that she feels lucky to have a thoughtful husband who sacrifices for his wife and children.
- Your family and children are in the US, why do you often return home recently?
- I have been returning home frequently these past few years. In 2016 alone, I sang in Vietnam for one to two weeks every month, not to mention performing in other countries.
This is my second time back to Vietnam this year. After participating in the program"Five Golden Voices" in Hanoi on August 12, I also have two mini shows in the capital (August 17) and Ho Chi Minh City (August 18, in collaboration with singer Dinh Bao) - programs to thank my fans and also to celebrate my 40th birthday. In addition, I accepted to be a judge on "Music Prodigy".

-Entering your 40s, how do you feel about your singing career?
- Asians, especially those in the entertainment industry, often lament about age. For me, turning 40 is a good milestone in life because I find myself more mature, understanding myself and others much better than when I was in my twenties. The saying "old ginger is spicier" fits me at this stage. I understand gains and losses in life, the pressure of competing with a career is not as important as it used to be. I am truly calm and composed - traits I hardly had when I was young. My creativity has developed in more depth. I am not too worried about my age, but I am more concerned about my health and discipline in life so that I can run the long run.
My husband and children have helped me change a lot. When I was young, I was very rebellious. At this age, my rebelliousness does not show on the outside. I know how to find like-minded people to socialize with and not waste time with people whose lifestyles are too different from mine.
-How does your husband share with you in life and work?
-In the years before I had children, I quit my job and stayed home because I was bored with singing. My husband went to work and took care of everything so I could rest. Since I gave birth, I wanted to return to music. He took responsibility for taking care of the family so that I could have peace of mind to maintain my career. I think it is hard to find a man who is so thoughtful and willing to sacrifice for his family.
In America, married life does not divide responsibilities in the "husband is king, wife is servant" way. Whoever does a good job gets that job, depending on each stage of life. My relatives in Vietnam often say that my family lives too scientifically, not in line with Vietnamese family traditions (laughs).
I often perform and work hard. That is good for my career, but my children suffer when they have to be away from their mother for months at a time. So this year I try to arrange more time for my family. My daughter loves to sing, dance and perform like her mother and has her father’s talent for language and composition. At just over 5 years old, she has shown a talent for writing lyrics.
- You admit that you have become more calm but you still get into trouble many times because of your statements. Why is that?
- In the showbiz world, whether you are straightforward or devious, you will face the same consequences. My job generates a lot of profit and fame, so "big boats encounter big waves". Gossip seems to be a clause in the famous "contract", right? Loud-mouthed people and quiet people cannot avoid gossip. My point of view is to always live honestly and straightforwardly. Those who understand, understand, those who do not understand gossip, they just say what they hear.
Everyone chooses their own way of life that suits them. I find frankness less of a headache. Pretense and flattery make me tired and troubled...so I can't stand it.

The singer shared that in 2017 she rarely returned to Vietnam because she wanted to spend time with her husband and children. |
-What have you regretted in your relationships with colleagues?
- Honestly, even though I had to break up with relationships that lasted for decades, I don't have many regrets. Everything that comes and goes in life is up to fate. I only regret that sometimes because of my closed nature, I am not more sociable and open to the kindness and goodwill of many colleagues. However, God does not disappoint those who have a good heart. I also had the opportunity to cooperate and open up to those friends, to become new partners who respect each other.
-What interests you most about the current domestic music scene?
- New elements. The longevity of a music industry always depends on the work and movement of veteran artists. However, vitality always originates from new elements. I respect artists with many years of creativity and always pay attention to young people who have their own direction.

-Currently, what else do you want to strive for in your singing career?
- Every 10 years is a memorable milestone. When I was 10 years old, I started my singing career. At 20 years old, I made my name with the music of Tran Tien, Quoc Bao, Ngoc Dai - Vi Thuy Linh and the albumSolar Eclipse. At the age of 30, I was attached to the music of Do Bao and Giang Son, conquering the overseas music market. Earlier this year, the album Ban Nguyen won the Dedication Award in the category "Album of the Year"... Now that I have turned 40, I look forward to new challenges and adventures. A true artist never stops on his creative path.
After 20 years of working, tI started to pay more attention to participating in prestigious talent competitions and specialized jobs to contribute to the transfer of knowledge. I respect and admire my colleagues who opened music schools or did programs to raise awareness and music appreciation for young people. That is a very honest path of development that only people with heart and vision can do.
