The US House of Representatives announced a ban on installing the TikTok application
The US House of Representatives Administration Committee has just announced a ban on installing the short video streaming application TikTok - owned by a Chinese company - on all devices managed by the US House of Representatives.
In a December 27 announcement, the US House Administration Committee stated that the TikTok application is considered "high risk due to a number of security issues" and must be removed from all devices under the jurisdiction of this legislative body.

The new rule follows a series of moves by US states to ban TikTok on government-owned devices. As of last week, 19 states had partially or completely banned the app on government-owned devices, citing concerns about the misuse of user data collected by TikTok.
The $1.7 trillion federal government budget bill for fiscal year 2023 passed on December 20 also includes a provision banning TikTok on federally managed devices and will take effect after US President Joe Biden signs it into law.
In a response, on December 19, TikTok expressed disappointment and said that "the policies were issued based on baseless arguments about TikTok, while these will not help the process of strengthening US national security"./.
