Two officials arrested in exam cheating case in Hoa Binh
An expert from the Examination Department of the Hoa Binh Department of Education and a vice principal were prosecuted and arrested on the afternoon of August 3.

On the afternoon of August 3, when two officials were prosecuted, the Director of the Hoa Binh Department of Education said he also "did not know how many exam papers were tampered with". He affirmed that the Department did not conceal the incident because it had proactively reported it to the head of the exam steering committee, the police, and the Ministry of Education.
In the 2018 National High School Exam, Hoa Binh had more than 8,900 candidates taking the exam. The results when announced raised public suspicion when 24 people scored 9 or higher in Math, accounting for 4.7% of the country. Considering the traditional exam groups (A, A1, B, C, C3, D1), this mountainous province had 22 out of 324 candidates scoring 27 points or higher.
Reviewing the exam marking process, the Department of Education and Training of Hoa Binh province confirmed that no violations were detected.

On July 24, suspecting signs of wrongdoing, the Ministry of Education sent a dispatch to the Ministry of Public Security requesting an investigation. The Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the Ministry of Education, initially confirmed that there was interference in the test answer sheets of candidates to change their scores, specifically increasing their scores.
On July 30, Hoa Binh Provincial Police began investigating a number of issues related to the 2018 national high school multiple-choice test scoring. Five officials from the multiple-choice test scoring team of the Provincial Examination Council were summoned.
