More than 20 people were injured and several were hospitalized after a train traveling from Moscow to Brest crashed into another passenger train last night (April 8 local time).

Footage from the scene shows four derailed train cars, one of which was upside down. Sixteen people, including a child, were hospitalized after the crash, according to the Russian Emergencies Ministry. One passenger is in critical condition, according to Moscow health authorities.

Firefighters and 170 rescue workers with equipment were deployed to the scene and evacuated all passengers, RT reported.

According to preliminary information, the commuter train from Vyazma to Moscow collided with the long-distance train from Moscow to Brest after a man crossed the tracks, forcing the train to apply emergency brakes. More than 450 people were on board the two trains.

A young woman named Yulia Kolomytseva captured the moment the two trains collided from inside a commuter train after her train slid down a slope after emergency braking.

Yulia's train driver warned passengers about the collision at least four minutes before it happened, video footage shows.

"Our ship is about to collide, our ship has been hit," Yulia screams in the video, posted on social network VKontakte.
