Thomas A. Demetrio is a partner at the law firm Corboy & Demetrio and has served as president of the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He regularly wins difficult, multimillion-dollar judgments.
"Tom Demetrio as representative means United will be in great difficulty," Chicago Business yesterday quoted Bob Clifford, a famous lawyer in Chicago.
"Tom Demetrio knows more about aviation litigation than anyone else. Not only will he represent a great doctor, but he will also be a turning point that will force United to change its ways. Now they (United Airlines) will have many reasons to have a headache and correct the mistakes they made."
Mr. Demetrio has helped a client recover more than $1 billion in damages, the largest personal injury award ever handed down by the Illinois Supreme Court. He represents clients in medical malpractice, product defects, and airplane crashes, and has been ranked by the National Law Journal as one of the top 10 lawyers in the country.
"They want to kill me, I want to go home," said David Dao, his face covered in blood.
Another attorney representing Demetrio in David Dao’s defense is Stephen Golan of the Chicago-based law firm Golan & Christie Taglie. Golan is also one of the top corporate lawyers in North America, according to Who’s Who Directories, a U.S. law magazine that ranks American lawyers.
He represents companies ranging from startups to large enterprises with annual revenues of $500 million. He co-founded the firm in 1993 and is currently its CEO. He is a practicing corporate law professional and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
