North and South Korea restart high-level talks.
(Baonghean.vn) - According to an announcement by the South Korean Ministry on North Korean affairs, on October 5th, the two Koreas began resuming their high-level talks. These talks had been suspended since February.

Lim Byung Cheol, spokesman for South Korea's Ministry of Unification, said Hwang Pyong So is currently the head of the military and a newly elected member of the National Defense Commission. Hwang Pyong So is considered the second most powerful figure in Pyongyang after President Kim Jong Un.
At approximately 10 a.m. local time, the Pyongyang delegation arrived at Incheon Airport near Seoul for the first high-level meeting between the two Koreas after a long period of suspension. However, the three leaders from Pyongyang returned to North Korea that same evening.
Since the signing of the armistice agreement in 1953, the two Koreas have been in a state of near-confrontation and have not reached any further peace treaties.
The visit by high-ranking Pyongyang leaders, including Hwang Pyong So, comes amid unfavorable rumors about the health of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. In July, during the 20th anniversary of the death of former President Kim Il Sung, the grandson of the founder of the communist regime in North Korea appeared with a limp. A month later, President Kim Jong Un had not been seen in public.
