100 traffic accidents caused by alcohol in two days
According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, after three days of Tet holiday, there were more than 100 accidents nationwide, killing 87 people and injuring 84 others.

The local traffic police force has organized 4,287 officers and soldiers to patrol and control road traffic safety and order; detected and handled 3,078 violations, fined over 934 million VND, temporarily detained 546 violating vehicles, 384 documents of all kinds, and revoked 88 driving licenses.
Local traffic police also organized 34 patrols to control traffic safety and order on waterways; detected and handled 16 violations.

In particular, traffic accidents increased on the 30th and the first day of Tet, mainly due to people driving after drinking alcohol, speeding, and not wearing helmets when riding motorbikes.
On February 16, traffic in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City was clear, convenient for people to travel within the city and to other localities.
Most streets have low traffic density, smooth traffic, quiet and peaceful streets.
On New Year's Eve (February 15), many provinces and cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Dak Nong, Quang Tri... organized many special activities to welcome the New Year, people gathered at fireworks display sites. Localities have implemented many plans so that traffic situation is ensured order and safety.
In Hanoi, tens of thousands of people flocked to Hoan Kiem Lake and the Opera House to celebrate New Year's Eve.
In Ho Chi Minh City, people also flocked to Nguyen Hue walking street to welcome the moment of transition between the old year and the new year.
Police forces in both localities have deployed forces to regulate traffic and prevent congestion before and after people celebrate New Year's Eve, ensuring smooth and safe traffic.
The National Traffic Safety Committee requests ministries, branches and localities to continue to strictly implement the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 1882/CD-TTg; direct functional forces to increase patrols, control and strictly handle all violations of traffic safety regulations, especially violations of alcohol concentration when driving, not wearing helmets when participating in traffic by motorbike, electric bicycle; increase patrols, control and handle violations in rural and suburban areas...
