Two Vietnamese involved in oil theft worth more than $2 million in Singapore

Singapore authorities are looking into charges against 11 people for stealing Shell oil, including two Vietnamese.

Nguyen Duc Quang, 46 years old and Dang Van Hanh, 37 years old, were charged by a Singapore court on January 9 forreceived 1,260 tons of stolen oil,The New Papertoday's news.

The two men, along with nine other Singaporeans, were charged withembezzlement of large quantities of fuelof the companyShell Singapore.The oil stolen at various times, from August last year to January this year, is worth more than $2 million.

Of the nine Singaporeans, eight are former employees ofShell Eastern Petroleum, accused of diverting oil from the plant.This is considered the most serious incident of Shell branch.recently.

The 11 people were among 17 suspects arrested in an operation carried out by authorities over the weekend, after Shell reported the incident in August last year.Police seized numerous items, cash worth more than three million USD and a 12,000-ton oil tanker.

Deputy ProsecutorStephanie Chew on January 9 requested that all 11 be detained, saying further charges would be filed.Investigation is underway.

JudgeAdam Nakhoda set the review of the two Vietnamese for January 16.JudgeChristopher Goh adjourned the case of nine people to January 15.
