Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission attended and delivered a speech at the ceremony. Also attending were Comrade Nguyen Thi Doan, Vice President and other leaders and former leaders of the Party and State.

Thirty years ago, the award named after the eminent Russian female mathematician Kovalevskaia (1850-1891) began to be awarded to Vietnamese female scientists in the field of natural sciences. The first two women to be honored with the Kovalevskaia Award in 1985 were Meritorious Teacher Bui Thi Ty and Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Thi Kim Chi. To date, the Kovalevskaia Award Committee has awarded awards to 17 groups and 44 individuals with outstanding achievements in natural science research and application in the fields of mathematics, chemistry, biology, medicine, education, agriculture, etc., with many projects transferring technology and putting it into application, bringing high socio-economic benefits.

Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization Truong Thi Mai and Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan presented the 2015 Kovalevskaia Prize to Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Cam Ha and Dr. Pham Thi Ngoc Thao.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Truong Thi Mai emphasized: This is an award that has accompanied Vietnamese female scientists in 30 years of national renovation. Since 1985, the Kovalevskaia Award has become a prestigious national award for female scientists. It can be affirmed that the research achievements and scientific applications in practice of 61 groups and individuals of female scientists have high economic value, profound humanity, and have significantly contributed to the achievements in 30 years of national renovation. The contributions of female scientists contribute to the qualitative development of the female workforce and the equal role of women in social life.

The 2015 Kovalevskaia Prize was awarded to Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Cam Ha, former Head of the Department of Environmental Biotechnology, Institute of Biotechnology, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Dr. Pham Thi Ngoc Thao, Deputy Director of Cho Ray Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City.

On this occasion, 38 female associate professors and 38 female doctors who successfully defended their doctoral theses in 2014 and 2015 received Certificates of Merit from the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union.

This year, the Kovalevskaia Award Committee decided to award the first scholarship to Hoang Hue Cam, a student of class 10A1 Math, High School for the Gifted, University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, for her many outstanding achievements in studying and scientific research.

At the ceremony, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh, Chairwoman of the Kovalevskaia Award Committee, transferred the position of Chairwoman of the Kovalevskaia Award Committee to Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan.
