Pham Tran Thu Suong is a 12C1 student at Con Cuong High School. Her mother is a primary school teacher and her father is mainly a farmer and a cattle breeder. The family has 3 children, Suong is the second child. Suong's older sister is currently studying at Hanoi University of Procuracy and is also one of the district's top candidates in the 2017 exam. “When Suong got high scores, her family was very excited. Since childhood, Suong has been very independent, taking care of her studies completely by herself, and when she has time, she guides her younger brother to study to achieve good results and helps her parents with housework.”
Ms. Thiem said that in order to focus on studying, Suong decided not to use her personal phone to communicate and participate in social networks. Her house is 7 km away from school, her parents once suggested that she use a mobile phone for convenient communication but Suong firmly refused. Suong explained: "Every day from home to school, from school back home, so I don't think it is necessary to use a phone, using it to go online is a waste of time."
Perhaps that helped Pham Tran Thu Suong focus on her studies and achieve proud results. During her 3 years in high school, Suong was an excellent student. In addition, she also won third prize in History in the provincial excellent student competition in the 2017-2018 school year.

“To study well in block C subjects, in class I always focus on absorbing the knowledge that teachers impart. At home I mainly study by myself. The important thing is to be persistent, diligent, industrious, nurture passion and set goals to strive for.”
To study effectively, Suong also builds for herself a specific study outline for each subject and allocates appropriate study time. Once she has mastered the knowledge in the textbooks, she spends time reading additional documents and discussing directly with teachers about difficult issues.
“Suong is a good student, diligent and studious. Not only is she a good student, Suong is always enthusiastic in helping her classmates. Suong’s achievements are not only the pride of her family, but also the pride of the whole school. She is a shining example of studiousness and a spirit of learning for her classmates and schoolmates to learn from.”
Nurturing the dream of becoming a teacher, Pham Tran Thu Suong applied to Hanoi Pedagogical University and Vinh University.
Orphaned female student reveals how to study to get high scores
"I was so happy that I burst into tears." That was Vo Thi Huong's brief sharing when she received the results of the 2019 National High School Exam. Vo Thi Huong is the eldest of five children in Tho Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district. Right from the moment she entered Bac Yen Thanh High School, Huong set specific learning goals for her three years of high school.
With a spirit full of energy and optimistic thinking that if you are determined, nothing can stop you on the path to success, Huong continuously gets high scores in class tests.
But then, at the end of the first semester of grade 10, Huong's father suddenly passed away. Although she thought she would never be able to overcome it, she suppressed the great pain and continued to make efforts because Huong always kept the faith that only education was the key to open a bright future.
“At first, I just hid in a dark corner and cried for my father. When my father left, all the burden fell on my mother’s shoulders. Suppressing the pain in my heart, I told myself to be strong, to work many times harder in both studying and housework to help my mother and siblings overcome the loss.
The road to Huong's goals was not very smooth. In grade 11, she "lost" the provincial exam for excellent students in English, Huong was very disappointed in herself. But thanks to the encouragement and consolation of her mother, classmates and especially the wholehearted care of her homeroom teacher Tran Thi Thu Huong, who directly guided and trained Huong in English, once again, she stood up and focused on reviewing her knowledge to conquer the new goal of the National High School Exam - "the most important door that will decide my whole life in the future", Huong said.

Sharing the secret to getting high scores, Huong said that, besides learning from teachers, friends and seniors, she always studies according to thetrapezoidal principle, which means going from easy to difficult, mastering basic knowledge before moving on to advanced parts, "plowing" through textbooks thoroughly and then selecting reference books. When tired, I will not try to cram knowledge into my head but choose to listen to English - American music or text my homeroom teacher in English to supplement new vocabulary and reinforce grammar in the most natural way."

“It can be said that Huong’s achievements have demonstrated the overcoming of difficulties of her in particular and of the people of the North of Yen Thanh district in general, and at the same time, it is a worthy recognition of the efforts of teachers and students over the past years. In addition, that achievement will certainly create a strong push for the teaching and learning of social sciences at school in the coming time.
I plan to apply to the University of Foreign Languages under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi to realize my dream of becoming a translator or a Chinese teacher. I will have to quickly “forget” this small success and return to the ground to constantly strive on the future path full of thorns that awaits me.”
