Two old men

(Baonghean) - Two old men, one 88 years old and the other 86 years old, live day after day relying on each other in a small, lonely house.

This is the family situation of two brothers, Nguyen Nha and Nguyen Thoa, currently residing in Hamlet 8, Quynh Hong Commune (Quynh Luu District). Both are childless. Although they are eligible for poverty alleviation programs, Mr. Nha still has to work hard to make ends meet. Every market day, he buys brooms and reed brooms, then daily rides his bicycle around selling them. Each day he sells 2-5 brooms, earning a profit of 1-2 thousand dong per broom. Despite the hardship, Mr. Nha doesn't rest when he gets home; he has to care for his younger brother, Mr. Thoa, who suffers from severe dementia, barely recognizing anything, unable to speak, and confined to a wheelchair.

The small house of these two elderly brothers contained nothing of value, only two old, rickety fans, a rusty rice cooker, and a few discarded items that Mr. Nha had salvaged for repair and reuse. Due to lack of strength to clean, the house was very messy and smelly. Mr. Thoa was covered in sores. Mr. Nha himself was no longer truly lucid. He recounted that his older brothers had either died before getting married or had no children, so he had no nieces or nephews to rely on when he was unwell. He had been suffering from a toothache for the past few days, but he didn't dare buy medicine; his health insurance card for the poor only allowed him to get medication once a month. He had also never been to the hospital because no one could take him, and he didn't know the procedures...

That's all for now. We hope everyone with a kind heart will share and help the two brothers, Mr. Nha and his sibling...
