The Italian Navy evacuated all passengers from the burning ferry.
The Italian Navy confirmed on December 29 that it had evacuated all passengers and most of the crew from a ferry that caught fire off the country's Adriatic coast the day before.
The navy said only nine crew members remain on the ferry and it will be towed back to port.

The Norman Atlantic ferry had an accident at around 6 a.m. on December 28 local time (11 a.m. Vietnam time) while en route from the Greek port of Patras to the Italian port of Ancona.
There were 478 people on board the ferry, including 268 Greeks (including 34 crew), 44 Italians (including 22 crew), 54 Turks, 22 Albanian passengers, 18 German passengers, as well as citizens of France, Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and Russia.
At least five people were killed in the accident. Rescuers recovered four bodies from the water on December 29, a day after pulling the body of a 62-year-old Greek man from the rough seas./.
