According to Reuters news agency, a Ukrainian court on April 18 ruled that two Russian soldiers, captured in Ukraine in May 2015, were guilty of crimes including preparing to commit "a terrorist act" related to the conflict of separatist forces in eastern Ukraine.

The two men were later sentenced to 14 years in prison each.

Russia has consistently denied sending troops to support rebel fighters in eastern Ukraine, claiming that Alexander Alexandrov and his commander, Colonel Yevgeny Yerofeyev, had left their special forces unit to join the conflict.

This incident attracted special attention because Ukraine wanted to exchange the two soldiers with Ukrainians detained in Russia, including pilot Nadezhda Savcheko./.
