The Vietnamese Navy has acquired two more fast attack missile boats.
A pair of fast attack missile boats equipped with modern weapons... have been handed over to the navy to contribute to enhancing combat strength in protecting maritime sovereignty and islands.

On the afternoon of June 2nd, Ba Son Corporation (under the General Department of Defense Industry) held a handover ceremony for two missile boats (pair number 2) of the 12418 class, numbered 379 and 380, to the Vietnam Navy. These are two of the six missile boats that Ba Son Corporation contracted to build for the Vietnam Navy since 2009, based on a technology transfer agreement between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
According to information from Ba Son Corporation, construction of the two ships began in October 2011. In April, both ships successfully passed live-fire technical inspections at the Navy and Ministry of Defense levels before handover. Throughout the construction of these ships, Ba Son strictly adhered to procedures and technologies, ensuring quality and aesthetics in accordance with the contract.

Rear Admiral, Major General Nguyen Van Ninh, Deputy Commander of the Navy, stated that the 12418 fast attack missile boat has high combat capabilities, is equipped with modern and synchronized weapons, possesses superior features, powerful firepower, and high maneuverability. In combat, the ship is capable of independent or coordinated operations, effectively resolving key battles at sea quickly.
In June 2014, two missile boats of this type, numbered 377 and 378, were handed over to the Navy, contributing to enhancing the combat strength in protecting the sovereignty of the country's seas, islands, and exclusive economic zone.

The Molnya 12418 missile boat is equipped with four Uran-E missile launchers with a total of 16 missiles, a range of 130 km, and an AK-176M automatic naval gun with a range of approximately 15 km, an altitude of 11 km, and a rate of fire of about 120-130 rounds per minute. The boat is also equipped with two AK-630 six-barreled automatic cannons, with a range of 4-5 km and a rate of fire of 4,000-5,000 rounds per minute.
