(Baonghean.vn) - During the 4-day holiday (April 30 - May 3, 2021), due to high demand, seafood prices increased quite high, while prices of other foods remained stable.

Following the recommendation not to travel far or gather in crowded places, this year's holiday, most families choose to have fun and eat at home. In addition, children who were away from home during the Lunar New Year and could not return home have now flocked to Vinh in large numbers. Accordingly, the demand for food, especially fresh seafood, has increased quite high.

At Quan Lau market (Truong Thi, Vinh city), the stallsseafoodMany people choose to buy, the price has increased by 20-25% compared to before the holiday. "It's a holiday so it's a bit expensive, it's okay as long as it's fresh and delicious", said a customer choosing crab at Quan Lau market.

Not only at the market, but also at the fresh seafood stores on Duy Tan Street, Hong Bang Street, and Le Nin Street, there are many customers coming to choose. The prices of grade 1 seafood here have increased compared to before, but the prices of frozen seafood are somewhat more stable.

Walking around the central markets of Cua Lo, Dien Chau, Quynh Luu during the first two days of the holiday, the buying and selling atmosphere was much more bustling than usual.

Ms. Ho Thi Lan, a seafood vendor at Giat market, said: “The holiday coincides with the time when new fishing boats go offshore, so there is not much fresh seafood. The seafood sold at the market is mainly purchased from boats that go close to shore, so the quantity is small, the rest is frozen. Because demand exceeds supply, the selling price has increased compared to normal days.”

Through price research at markets in Quynh Luu district, most seafood prices have increased. Specifically, grade 1 crabs are currently priced at 550,000 - 600,000 VND/kg (up 200,000 VND/kg); grade 1 mantis shrimp is priced at 350,000 VND/kg (up 50,000 - 100,000 VND/kg); dried squid 6 - 7 pieces/kg is priced at 1.6 - 1.7 million (up 200,000 VND/kg)...

At Cua Lo, at Nghi Thuy fishing wharf market, Hom market or other places.seafoodIn Nghi Hai, there are always bustling buyers and sellers. Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh - a trader at Nghi Thuy fish market said: "Although this year, the town does not organize a river festival, and there are fewer tourists coming to Cua Lo than every year, the purchasing power of seafood has increased sharply. Many people go to Cua Lo just to buy fresh seafood, pack it and send it by car to the North and South for relatives. Accordingly, the purchasing power has tripled compared to normal days; aquatic products such as shrimp, crab, etc. have all increased in price by 20-25% (depending on the type)".

As for other foods, purchasing power increased slightly and prices remained stable. Many stores and supermarkets even launched discount and promotion programs on the occasion of the holiday.
