(Baonghean.vn) - Although they are competing in VBA 2023, two young players Nguyen Duong Quang Anh and Tu Duong Huy are still "running around" for the Nghe An basketball team in the Northern amateur tournament; MU and Barca were fined for violating UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules, which are prominent sports news in the past 24 hours.

The 2023 Northern Amateur Basketball Open Tournament brings together 16 teams representing provinces and cities in the Northern region, taking place from July 6 to July 15 at Cau Giay Stadium (Hanoi).

At this playground, Nghe An team surprised everyone with the presence of two young talents competing in VBA 2023, Nguyen Duong Quang Anh (Hanoi Buffaloes) and Tu Duong Huy (Danang Dragons).

To participate in two tournaments at the same time, the young defender duo both had to work hard. For nearly a week, Tu Duong Huy - a pitcher born in 2002 - had to travel back and forth between Hanoi and Da Nang to ensure his presence in the matches of the two tournaments. Although Nguyen Duong Quang Anh did not have to travel much, the Hanoi Buffaloes player also had to work just as hard as Duong Huy.

"For athletes who are passionate about basketball, whether amateur, semi-professional or professional, being able to compete is an indescribable happiness. Thank you to my teammates, the Nghe An basketball team, and the Northern amateur tournament for creating a playground to nurture the passion for the orange ball," Hanoi Buffaloes player Nguyen Duong Quang Anh shared.

Thanks to the active contributions of Nguyen Duong Quang Anh and Tu Duong Huy, Nghe An basketball team continuously advanced and only stopped at the semi-finals against Thanh Hoa with a score of 61-67. "Being able to reach the semi-finals is the history of Nghe An basketball team. This is the result of building the movement together over the years", coach Le Quoc Y of Nghe An team shared.

MU and Barca punished by UEFA

UEFA announced the decision on Friday (July 14) after concluding a "monitoring" process for the 2022/23 season, covering the period from 2019 to 2022. The punishment was based on UEFA's previous FFP rules, with new regulations coming from next season.

United's breach was "reporting a small break-even deficit", meaning their losses for the financial year exceeded UEFA regulations.

"Although disappointed with the outcome, Manchester United accept this fine for what UEFA say was a minor technical breach of their previous Financial Fair Play rules," United said in a statement. United insist the fine relates to past issues and older FFP rules, meaning it will not affect their transfer budget for the summer of 2023.

Meanwhile, Barca were fined for falsely reporting profits from player sales in the 2022 financial year that "did not constitute relevant income under the regulations".

Messi unfollows PSG on Instagram

PSG is the first club Messi has played for that he has stopped following, after two seasons with the club. The Argentine superstar still follows Barca after leaving the club in the summer of 2021. Messi once said that there was no problem between him and PSG, but the 36-year-old was repeatedly booed by the Parc des Princes crowd in the second half of last season.

Messi only follows four clubs on Instagram: Barca, Newell's Old Boys, Man City and Chelsea. Newell's is Messi's childhood team, while Barca is where he spent most of his career. He has followed Chelsea since 2015, as a threat to Barca's leadership about leaving. Messi has also followed Man City since 2020, amid rumors of a reunion with coach Pep Guardiola. In the end, he did not move to Chelsea or Man City, but he still did not unfollow these two teams.

Messi has been in Miami and is expected to debut for his new team on Sunday night, July 16, at DRV PNK Stadium. On July 13, many Americans were excited to see Messi in a supermarket in Miami, pushing a shopping cart with his family. He has said he wants to find a place where he can play away from the spotlight, because soccer is not the number one sport in the United States. However, Miami has more than 100,000 Argentines, and the majority of the city's population speaks Spanish.

Messi has signed a one-year contract with Miami, with an option to extend for a further two years, meaning he is free to leave in the summer of 2024 or 2025 if he wishes. He is scheduled to make his Miami debut on July 21 in the North American Confederations Cup. Ticket prices for the game have already been pushed up to a maximum of $10,000, according to Diario AS. This will be Messi's first time playing for a club outside of Europe.
