Two fishing boats sank, one person missing.
(Baonghean.vn) - Although Typhoon No. 6 did not make a direct landfall, Nghe An province suffered losses of life and property. Two fishing boats carrying 16 fishermen (from Quynh Long and Quynh Luu districts) sank while trying to avoid the storm; 15 people have been rescued, and one fisherman is still missing.
According to Mr. Hoang Nghia Hieu, Chief of the Office of the Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue Command of Nghe An province, functional forces are coordinating with the flood and storm prevention commands and local people of Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue provinces to continue searching for the missing fisherman from Nghe An at coordinates 18017'N and 106033'E, 10 nautical miles north of Mui Ron.

Fishing boats take shelter from the storm in the harbors of Cua Hoi.
Earlier, on August 8th, the Provincial Flood and Storm Control Command received news that two fishing vessels, NA-93789-TS owned by Mr. Bui Cong Chuan, residing in Minh Thanh hamlet, Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district, with 7 fishermen on board, and NA-93391-TS owned by Mr. Tran Van Tien, also residing in the same commune, with 9 crew members, had completely lost contact with the mainland in an area 10 nautical miles southeast of Mat Island. Immediately, the Provincial Border Guard Command directed the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station to coordinate with the Quynh Long commune authorities to deploy 4 fishing vessels to the area where the two vessels lost contact to search for them.
Subsequently, the Provincial Border Guard Command reinforced the area with two speedboats, and the Nghe An Fisheries Exploitation and Protection Sub-Department deployed two more vessels to search the area for the sunken fishing boats and missing fishermen, but without success.
On the afternoon of August 8th, while the search was stalled, with 4 speedboats and 4 fishing boats circling the area where contact was lost without success, they received information that at coordinates 18017'N and 106033'E in the waters of Ha Tinh province, 10 nautical miles north of Mui Ron, the fishing boat QT91068TS, captained by Mr. Bui Dinh Dung from Quang Tri province, had discovered and rescued 15 fishermen from Nghe An province who were swimming at sea while returning to shore from two sunken fishing boats.
After rescuing 15 people, the crew of the Quang Tri fishing boat headed straight to Vung Ang (Ha Tinh) to bring the fishermen ashore. On the night of September 8th, the Provincial People's Committee directed Quynh Luu district to organize transportation to Vung Ang port in Ha Tinh to pick up the victims and bring them home, while continuing the search for the remaining missing fishermen.
Although Typhoon No. 6 did not make a direct landfall, it caused heavy rain in Nghe An province, with rainfall amounts ranging from 70 to 152 mm.
