According to Traditional Medicine Practitioner Do Minh Tuan of the Hanoi Traditional Medicine Association, eggs and sweet potatoes are two foods frequently included in diets due to their low calorie content and rich nutritional value.
Sweet potatoes also help prevent health decline and improve beauty. Sweet potatoes are rich in beta-carotene, vitamin C, vitamin B6, and folic acid – substances that can fight cancer and cardiovascular disease.
A sweet potato (about 100g) can provide double the daily required amount of vitamin A, one-third of the daily recommended amount of vitamin C, and 50mg of folic acid. Its high fiber content is comparable to a bowl of oatmeal, promoting bowel movements, preventing constipation, and reducing the risk of colon and rectal cancer.
In addition, sweet potatoes contain significantly fewer calories than rice, so eating them won't cause weight gain. Sweet potatoes also contain a substance similar to estrogen, which helps maintain skin health and delay aging.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, sweet potatoes have many names such as cam thu, phien chu, and are considered neutral in nature and sweet in taste. They are believed to nourish the body, replenish qi, strengthen the kidneys, improve digestion, reduce inflammation, cleanse the liver, promote bile flow, and improve eyesight. Sweet potatoes are used to treat jaundice, boils, and mastitis; they are beneficial for women with irregular menstruation, men with nocturnal emissions, and children with malnutrition and dysentery.

Chicken eggs are a rich source of nutrients, containing many vitamins such as A, B1, B6, B12, D, and E, along with important minerals like calcium, zinc, magnesium, and iron. This food is a high source of protein and provides essential amino acids for the immune system. Egg whites can strengthen muscles and fight aging. The lecithin in eggs can support the liver, aid digestion, and reduce the risk of arterial blockage caused by cholesterol.
Combining eggs with sweet potatoes not only creates an effective diet plan but is also beneficial for health and skin.
The most effective time to eat sweet potatoes and eggs for weight loss is at breakfast or lunch. Sweet potatoes contain calcium, which takes 4-5 hours to be absorbed by the body. Eating boiled eggs every morning will help the body reduce calorie intake throughout the day. Avoid eating these two foods at dinner as they can easily cause bloating and indigestion.
In addition to eggs and sweet potatoes, include other nutrient-rich foods such as: whole grains (oats, brown rice); green vegetables and low-sugar fruits (broccoli, apples, pears); healthy protein sources (chicken breast, beef, lean pork); and drink plenty of water.
