Two Russian national team footballers: Artem Dzyuba and Denis Cheryshev were included in the best XI of players who made the biggest breakthroughs at the World Cup. The ranking was made by ESPN.

The full squad is as follows: goalkeeper Cho Hyun-woo (South Korea), defenders Harry Maguire (England), Lucas-François Hernandez and Benjamin Pawar (both French) and Morteza Puraligandzhi (Iran); centre-backs Denis Cheryshev (Russia), Rodrigo Betancourt (Uruguay) and Takashi Inui (Japan), forwards Ante Rebić (Croatia), Artem Dzyuba (Russia) and Matthew Leckie (Australia).

Cheryshev scored 4 goals and became the best scorer of the Russian team. And Dzyuba was the author of 3 goals. The Russian team left the World Cup held at home after losing to the Croatian team (2: 2, 3: 4 — in the penalty shootout).
