Couple puts son in microwave, causes outrage

A couple in Missouri, USA were arrested after putting their son, less than 4 months old, in a microwave and pressing the button, causing outrage on the internet.

According to Mirror, Derick Boyce Slezak and his wife Mikala, both 22 years old, were charged by Missouri police in the US with child neglect or abuse on November 28 after taking the baby boy, less than 4 months old, to the hospital with a rash on his face.

Doctors discovered the rash was actually second-degree burns and further examination revealed the boy had a fractured skull and brain damage.

Initially, the boy's parents told doctors the cause of the wound was a chemical used for cleaning.

However, representatives at the Missouri Department of Social Services said Mikala previously claimed the injuries were the result of Derick dropping the boy while trying to imitate something he saw on TV commercials. Mikala also said Derick put the boy in the microwave and turned it on for a short time.

Due to the serious nature of the incident, the two were detained on bail of $500,000 each.
