iPhone may be disabled if not updated to the latest software.

In February, the iPhone was disabled by simply changing the date and time to around 1970. This error was later fixed, but many users still think that it is difficult to fall for this "silly" vulnerability, so they subjectively do not upgrade. However, according to Slashgear, bad guys can completely sabotage your iPhone remotely.

Normally, when connecting to a Wi-Fi network, the device will save the parameters of this network and automatically connect the next time. Not only that, the device will also automatically connect to networks with the same name and the same security parameters (same password or no password).

Free Wi-Fi networks are quite popular in Vietnam as well as many countries around the world. Supermarkets and stores, even in different cities, often have the same name and password so that customers do not have to do it again. However, this also poses many risks when criminals use a fake Wi-Fi network with the same parameters as popular free Wi-Fi networks.

According to two security researchersPatrick Kelly and Matt Harringan, Apple devices connect to a Network Time Protocol server to update the correct time. But when the device connects to a malicious Wi-Fi network, the attacker "tricks" the system into updating the device to the 1970s, causing it to become disabled.

To ensure safety, users need to make sure their device has been upgraded to iOS 9.3.1 or later.
