Hamas calls hostage exchange historic achievement
Hamas called the hostage release a historic achievement, an important step towards establishing a Palestinian state.

According to TASS news agency on October 14, the Hamas movement congratulated Palestinians released from Israeli prisons on October 13.
"The prisoner exchange operation is a historic achievement," said a statement from the Hamas armed movement posted on social network X. "We consider this an important step on the path to liberating all Palestinian territories and areas of the Palestinian people."
The text notes that conflict and famine cannot stop the resilience of Palestinians, who "in every way express joy at the achievement of their goals, including the release of hostages".
Hamas stressed that "resistance forces treat Israeli prisoners in a civilized manner in accordance with Islamic values".
Meanwhile, speaking at the end of a peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, where a ceasefire deal in the Palestinian enclave was signed, US President Donald Trump said that "all the prerequisites for lasting peace" in the Middle East were in place.
According to President Trump, committing to the 20-point plan will be the necessary foundation to achieve this bright future.
"This work is underway right now. We are in the third and fourth phases of the agreement," the US leader said.
On October 13, Hamas and its Palestinian backers released all the hostages. Twenty were handed over to the Israeli army through mediation by the International Committee of the Red Cross and were on Israeli territory.
