South Korea, US, Japan conduct missile warning exercise at sea
(Baonghean.vn)- On October 24, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) of South Korea announced that South Korea, the US and Japan have begun a two-day joint missile warning exercise. The exercise will help the three countries detect and track missiles in case North Korea conducts a ballistic missile test launch.

According to the JCS, the trilateral exercise will take place in the waters off South Korea and Japan. The parties will deploy four Aegis combat system-equipped ships from the three countries.
“This latest exercise is designed to prepare for the growing nuclear and missile threats from North Korea, in line with the agreement reached at the 48th Security Consultative Meeting between South Korea and the US held in October 2016,” the JCS said.
No actual missiles will be fired during the exercise, the JCS added. The deployed ships will jointly detect and track a simulated missile launch and share information with each other.
This is the fifth missile warning exercise involving the three countries, since the first exercise took place in June last year./.
