South Korea: 89 foreigners arrested in crime crackdown
The Korean National Police Agency announced that 89 foreigners were arrested on charges including violence, gambling and drug-related crimes.

On November 4, the Korean National Police Agency announced that during a 100-day criminal investigation campaign since mid-July, 89 foreigners were arrested on charges including violence, gambling and drug-related crimes.
According to the agency, during a special investigation campaign from July 16 to October 23 targeting foreign criminals, Korean police discovered 886 foreigners involved in 402 cases and officially arrested 89 people.
Among the cases were 115 assaults and violence, 89 gambling cases, 81 drug trafficking cases and 53 cases involving the use of illegally registered cars, bank accounts and phone numbers.
The Korean National Police Agency said that from the beginning of this year to the end of October, the number of crimes committed by foreigners in Korea decreased by 5.3% compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the number of robberies and murders decreased by 31.9% and 22.7%, respectively./.
