(Baonghean.vn) - The Center for Overseas Labor has issued Official Letter No. 1064/TTLĐNN-TCLĐ regarding the coordination of the selection of workers under the EPS Program, Phase 1, 2024. Accordingly, workers from Nghe An are one of the four provinces whose ban has been lifted, allowing them to participate in this selection round.

Besides Nghe An, workers from the remaining three provinces of Ha Tinh, Hai Duong, and Thanh Hoa will be eligible to participate in the first round of the 2024 labor selection exam for South Korea.

South Korea will recruit 15,300 people across four sectors. This includes 11,200 positions in manufacturing, nearly 900 in agriculture, 200 in construction, and over 3,000 in fisheries.

This recruitment drive for workers going to South Korea is taking place nationwide, without the temporary suspension of recruitment at the local level as in previous years.

However, according to the same document, workers participating in this recruitment exam must not have been deported from South Korea; if they have previously resided in South Korea, including legally and illegally under an E9 visa (EPS worker) or (and) an E10 visa (fishing vessel crew member), the period of residence must be less than 5 years; the worker must not be prohibited from leaving Vietnam; and they must not have relatives residing illegally in South Korea.

In the case of workers who have worked in South Korea under the EPS Program, they must return to their home country upon the expiration of their contract. If they previously resided illegally in South Korea, they must have voluntarily returned to their home country during the period when the South Korean government implemented a policy of waiving penalties for illegal immigrants who voluntarily surrendered. In this case, the worker must present supporting documents.

Previously, in mid-March 2023, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs announced a temporary suspension of recruitment under the EPS Program in eight localities across several provinces and cities, including three localities in Nghe An province: Nghi Loc district, Cua Lo town, and Hung Nguyen district. The reason was that these localities had 70 or more illegal immigrants residing in South Korea, or a rate of 27% or more of workers whose contracts had expired but had not returned to Vietnam on time.
