Park Geun-hye was arrested in late March after the Constitutional Court approved her impeachment on a series of corruption charges involving her and her close friend Choi Soon-sil.
Park Geun-hye was charged with 18 crimes, including embezzlement, abuse of power, coercion, and leaking state secrets. One of the most serious charges against the former South Korean president was accepting bribes worth 59.2 billion won ($52.7 million) from major South Korean conglomerates, including Samsung, Lotte, and SK.
Under Korean law, each arrest warrant can only last for 6 months and the current arrest warrant for former President Park Geun-hye will expire on October 16./.
