Sputniknews reported that on March 11, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Defense Committee Vladimir Shamanov warned about the possibility of terminating the treaty between Russia and the United States on measures to reduce and limit strategic offensive weapons (START-3).
According to Mr. Shamanov, the validity of the above agreement will end in February 2021, but what will happen at that time is still unclear.
Speaking at a press conference for military attaches in Moscow, the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Defense Committee stressed: "Terminating START-3 could lead to a global catastrophe."

"We must focus on this disaster immediately. We cannot turn our backs on it,"AFPMarch 11 quoted Venezuela's self-proclaimed president Juan Guaido speaking, referring to the widespread power outage in the South American country.
Guaido said he called an emergency session of the National Assembly on March 11 to declare a "state of alarm" in Venezuela, thereby paving the way for international aid to enter the country.
The opposition leader also called on people to increase protests to pressure President Nicolas Maduro to resign, and asked the military to "stop covering up for the dictator".

Egyptian armed forces announced on March 11 that they had killed at least 46 militants in anti-terrorism operations in recent days in the Sinai Peninsula.
Egyptian armed forces spokesman Tamer al-Refai said that about 100 gunmen and wanted criminals were arrested in these operations, destroying 15 terrorist bases, confiscating 38 cars, 14 motorcycles, and 2 weapons storage facilities.
In addition, authorities also detonated 204 improvised explosive devices targeting Egyptian armed forces in Sinai. However, at least three Egyptian soldiers were also killed.

The South Korean military warned that activity at the Samundong and Sohae research facilities suggests Pyongyang may be preparing to launch a long-range missile.
"We are working closely with the United States to closely monitor and study activities that could lead to a missile launch in North Korean territory,"AFPquoted Kim Joon-rak, spokesman for the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, said in a press conference on March 11.
Analysts previously assessed that many activities were taking place at Pyongyang's two key research facilities: Samundong, where the Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) and satellite launch vehicle are being developed, and the Sohae test site.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on March 11 made a three-day official visit to Iraq, leading a high-level political and economic delegation.
This is President Rohani's first official visit to Iraq since 2013 and is considered "historic" to strengthen relations between the two countries.
During the visit, Mr. Rouhani is expected to meet with key Iraqi leaders to discuss bilateral relations in the political, economic and cultural fields. A number of cooperation memorandums of understanding and agreements will be signed by the two sides.
