South Korean lawmakers have been informed by the National Intelligence Service that North Korea and the United States are likely to resume working-level talks aimed at eliminating Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs.

Reuters reported on September 24 that South Korean lawmakers were informed by the country's National Intelligence Service that North Korea and the United States could resume working-level talks aimed at dismantling Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs within the next two to three weeks.

Speaking to reporters, these lawmakers said a third summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump could potentially take place this year if the aforementioned negotiations make progress, but provided no specific evidence.

According to these lawmakers, Kim Jong-un is also likely to travel to China for a fifth meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping before holding any summit with President Trump.
