South Korea organizes army that could 'change the game' in war
(Baonghean.vn)- South Korea will build an army using armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), also known as the "dronebots" army - a combination of UAVs and robots - to prepare for war situations, especially in emergency combat situations that may occur in North Korea.

Yonhap news agency quoted an unnamed South Korean military official as saying that the "dronebots" unit will be developed to carry out reconnaissance and attack missions.
The unit will give South Korean officials more time and flexibility in launching an attack in a surprise situation because the UAVs will transmit information in real time before attacking targets.
“From now on, we will deploy dronebots combat units until 2018 and use dronebots as a 'game changer' in warfare,” the official said.
According to the description, these UAVs will be used to transmit information from core North Korean targets such as “nuclear and missile test sites”. And in case of emergency, they will be deployed immediately to carry out attacks.

Specifically, these UAVs could be used to blow up North Korean missile launchers, radar systems, convoys, and communications systems. It is unclear whether there are two different types of dronebots – a reconnaissance version and an attack version carrying a small attack warhead.
However, the versatility of a range of drones, which can be used to attack moving targets or a more important target, would improve South Korea's ability to react quickly in crisis situations. This would be a major advantage over missiles, which must be pre-programmed with targets before being launched from an air base.
In rapid response situations, where a critical target could appear at any moment, the time difference between a pre-programmed launch and an actual launch of a missile can lead to wasted warheads.
