South Korea and the United States have called on North Korea not to conduct missile tests.

According to AFP, South Korea and the United States on September 24 urged Pyongyang not to conduct a missile test that they believe would violate United Nations resolutions.

The warning comes as the two countries conclude their annual high-level defense dialogue.

There is growing speculation that North Korea is planning a ballistic missile launch disguised as a satellite launch to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea on October 10th.

In a statement, South Korea's Ministry of Defense said that senior defense officials attending the two-day Korea-U.S. Integrated Defense Dialogue pledged to work closely together to counter "potential provocations from North Korea."

The statement emphasized: "U.S. and South Korean officials also reaffirmed their position that any North Korean missile launch using ballistic missile technology would be a violation of numerous United Nations Security Council resolutions."

Both sides also reiterated their call for North Korea to completely, permanently, and verifiably dismantle its nuclear weapons program.
