South Korea and North Korea will hold high-level talks
South and North Korea will hold high-level talks next week, South Korea's Unification Ministry said.

According to the representative of the South Korean Ministry of Unification, Baek Tae Hyun, on the morning of January 5, on behalf of Chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country Lee Sung Kwon, Pyongyang sent a telegram stating that on January 9 it would send a delegation to attend the negotiations taking place at the contact point south of the demilitarized zone between the two sides.
Key issues in the talks will be bilateral relations, including cooperation in preparations for the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. If an agreement is reached, the two sides will discuss it with the International Olympic Committee.
The last high-level talks between North and South Korea were held in December 2015.On May 3, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un ordered the opening of a "hotline" between Pyongyang and Seoul after a long period of inactivity.
On the same day, representatives of North and South Korea held their first telephone conversation on the restored communication channel.
