Dozens of people fought over land dispute

A land dispute resulted in two groups of people armed with machetes and homemade guns fighting, leaving one person dead and six injured.

On the morning of December 16, a group of people from Ea Sup town brought machines into Sub-area 263 to plow the land for cultivation. 30 minutes later, another group came and said that the land already had an owner, so a conflict arose between the two sides. However, the incident was later resolved, so the two sides left.

At around 2 p.m., the two groups continued to argue, leading to scuffles and fights. Dozens of people armed with knives, machetes, sticks and homemade guns rushed into the fight. The fight left Pham The Van (26 years old) dead on the spot; 6 others were seriously injured and taken to Dak Lak General Hospital for emergency treatment.

That same evening, Major General Tran Ky Roi, Director of Dak Lak Police, said that the provincial police were coordinating with Ea Sup district police to examine the scene to investigate the incident.Dozens of people have been summoned for questioning.

According to initial information, the disputed area is forestry land managed by the People's Committee of Ea Bung commune. However, the land has been encroached and cultivated for many years.
