(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An province currently has many private establishments and households producing forestry seedlings, supplying tens of millions of seedlings to the market every year. However, the inspection and control of seedling quality is still open.

The province currently has 32 organizations and individuals that are licensed to produce and trade forestry seedlings. Among them are 10 forestry companies; 19 units are Youth Unions, Forest Management Boards, Youth Unions, 1 forestry cooperative and 2 households. Every year, seed production and trading establishments across the province produce 20-25 million seedlings of all kinds.
According to the report of the Forest Protection Department, in 2016, the whole province planted over 16,030 hectares of forest, equivalent to about 38 million seedlings, however, there were about 17 million seedlings whose quality could not be controlled, mainly produced by households themselves.

Mr. Hoang Quoc Viet, Head of Nghe An Forestry Department, said: To improve the quality of forestry varieties, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Official Dispatch No. 1972 / SNN.KL dated July 15 on "strengthening control and improving the quality of forestry varieties".
Controlling the quality of seedlings will help forest planting households promote economic efficiency, and at the same time help seed production households to grow and supply seedlings to a large area. Therefore, the official dispatch of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also requires the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to direct the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to strengthen inspection and supervision of organizations, individuals and households trading and producing forest planting seedlings with clear origin.
