In Mexico City, protesters carried signs reading “Mexico must be respected, Mr. Trump,” and waved the Mexican flag. They marched along the capital’s main streets. Thousands of police were deployed to ensure security.
Relations between the United States and Mexico have fallen to their lowest point in decades since Trump took office on January 20. During his campaign, Trump called Mexican immigrants “criminals” and “rapists,” sparking outrage in America’s southern neighbor.

Tensions escalated when Mr. Trump signed an executive order to build a wall along the border to prevent illegal immigration. Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto canceled his visit to Washington in late January, related to the new US President's request that Mexico pay for the construction of the controversial border wall./.
