It is expected that in this third exam, testing locations in provinces such as Hanoi, Ha Tinh, Nam Dinh, Nghe An, and Hai Duong will have about 18,000 candidates taking the exam.

In Nghe An, it is expected that there will be about 2,000 candidates and they will take the exam on April 20 and 21; divided into 4 exam sessions.

After this exam, on May 11 and 12, the 4th competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University will also be held in Nghe An.

The Aptitude Test is a separate test of Hanoi National University. However, many universities now use this result for admission. Therefore, although this is a separate test, many candidates consider it one of the main methods for university admission.

Previously, speaking with Nghe An candidates at the 2024 career counseling session, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao - Director of the Testing Center - Hanoi National University said: The competency assessment test is designed to assess core competencies according to the general education program.

The test consists of three parts: Part 1 (quantitative thinking) is Mathematical knowledge with 50 questions, time is 75 minutes. Part 2 (qualitative thinking) is Literature - Language knowledge, with 50 questions, time is 60 minutes. Part 3 (science) includes knowledge of Natural and Social Sciences, with 60 questions, time is 60 minutes.

The exam is organized with the aim of assessing the capacity of high school students according to the output standards of the new general education program; career orientation for learners based on individual capacity. Domestic and foreign higher education institutions can refer to the exam results for admission purposes.

Due to the special nature of the Aptitude Test, many candidates said they felt quite pressured when taking this test.

Candidate Hong Anh - class 12T3, Do Luong High School said: I will take the exam on the afternoon of April 20, but in the morning, I and 4 classmates went to the exam site to get acquainted and have more time to rest. I myself was quite worried before this exam because I am in block A00 (Math - Physics - Chemistry), while this exam is a combination of many subjects, including social subjects. Although I have decided to take the exam since the end of grade 11, I still have a lot of social knowledge gaps and have to work very hard to keep up with the exam. I hope I will get over 90 points to have the opportunity to enter the school of my dreams.

Not only Nghe An students, today there are many students from many other provinces and cities who also came to participate in the Competency Assessment Test held at Vinh University.

Taking the train overnight to travel more than 300 km from Hanoi, Ms. Dinh Thi Lam Giang, whose child is studying at Luong The Vinh High School (Hanoi), said: My son is aiming to enter the University of Law, one of the top schools today, so we know that admission will be very difficult. Therefore, in addition to focusing on the High School Graduation Exam, we also participated in an additional competency assessment exam to give our children more opportunities. Before that, we also wanted our child to take the exam in Hanoi, but after several days of registration, we failed due to network congestion. Luckily, he was able to register at Vinh University and was one of the last spots.

According to regulations, candidates are allowed to bring calculators and atlases into the exam room. However, candidates should note that they are only allowed to use atlases from the Education Publishing House. This morning, some candidates mistakenly brought atlases and had to ask their family members to buy replacements. Photo: My Ha

In addition to taking this exam, many parents said they will continue to accompany their children to take the next exam held in May. Some candidates even take other university aptitude tests.

Although it increases opportunities, taking multiple exams with multiple subjects and at multiple locations will certainly make things more difficult and tiring for many candidates.

Currently, 90 universities nationwide have said they will use the results of the Hanoi National University's aptitude test for admission. Of these, 17 military schools are using this test score for the first time.

In 2023, the top scorer of the Hanoi National University's aptitude test scored 133/150 points. It is known that the minimum score for receiving applications using this method of schools is commonly from 70 to 85 points.
