Son Doong Cave Vietnam sets new record

Son Doong Cave, in Quang Binh province, has officially become the first and only place in the world to be recognized as a world record by three World Record Organizations (Guinness World Records, the World Record Union of the US and India, and the World Record Association in Hong Kong).

Previously, in 2015, the Guinness World Records book published globally officially introduced the record of Vietnam's Son Doong Cave.

In early 2016, the Vietnam Record Organization - Vietkings prepared a record nomination file for Son Doong Cave and sent it to the World Record Association and the World Record Union, requesting that these two record organizations consider granting a world record certificate to Quang Binh province, with the content "Son Doong Cave is the largest natural cave in the world".

From the above nomination, in June 2016, the World Record Association recognized the record for Son Doong Cave. And on July 24, 2016, the World Records Union - WorldKings also confirmed the world record for this cave with 3 main contents: The first person to explore and discover Son Doong Cave was Mr. Ho Khanh - a Vietnamese farmer in 1991; The British Royal Caving Association was the unit that explored the cave and determined the scale and size of Son Doong Cave in 2009; and Son Doong Cave is located in Son Trach Commune, Bo Trach District, Quang Binh Province, Vietnam.

It is known that all costs for world record organizations to recognize Son Doong Cave as a record are sponsored by the Vietnam Record Organization.

Located in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang cave complex (Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province), Son Doong cave is believed by scientists to have been formed about 2 to 5 million years ago with an estimated length of at least 6.5km, 200m high, and 150m wide. These parameters have helped Son Doong surpass Malaysia's Deer Cave to achieve the world record.
