When the information was received, the Commune People's Committee reported the situation to leaders at all levels. Some households, when informed, directly removed the opium poppy plants. Some households were directly persuaded by the Commune authorities to remove them. The situation has now stabilized.
According to the latest information from the People's Committee of Chau Phong commune, this commune has villages such as Dom 1 and Tam village with 6-7 households growing opium poppies in their vegetable gardens. Each household grows an average of 70 plants, the total number of plants that have been uprooted and destroyed is about 500 plants.
Regarding the issue of replanting opium poppies in Quy Chau district, Mr. Tran Van Doan, Deputy Head of the District Police, said: After receiving the information, the District People's Committee also established an inspection team to verify and assign responsibility to the commune authorities to destroy and handle the situation completely. Currently, all illegally planted opium poppies have been destroyed.
