On June 11, chaos erupted again in the French capital Paris when about 300 people, mainly homeless immigrants and their supporters, occupied a four-story building in the X area.
The incident occurred after city authorities cleared a series of tent camps of illegal immigrants in the north of the capital earlier this week.
Police reinforcements were deployed to the area, while government representatives tried to persuade the immigrants to leave the building.
Earlier, during a protest against the police removal of tents earlier this week, clashes broke out and police arrested about 100 people.
French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said irresponsible actions and statements by some officials had escalated the situation.
According to Mr. Cazeneuve, the issue of housing for illegal immigrants is being used for political purposes. Previously, the Green Party and some other parties accused the French government of violating the rights of immigrants.
Recently, the French government has taken strong measures to dismantle illegal immigrant camps.
According to the head of the French Interior Ministry, all illegal immigrants detained in the capital Paris will be provided with temporary accommodation until all cases are clarified and a legal decision is made regarding the possibility of granting asylum to these people in France.
