On October 6, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province said it had transferred the case to the police to investigate signs that the accountant and treasurer of the provincial Department of Health had embezzled about 3 billion VND from students.

In 2011, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy trained 252 students at Ca Mau to solve the problem of human resources in the medical field. These students committed to serve the locality for at least 5 years after graduation.

The cashier and accountant of the Ca Mau Department of Health are responsible for collecting tuition fees from students and submitting them to Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. However, according to statistics from the training center for the 2014-2015 school year, Ca Mau has 201 students who have not paid tuition fees; in the 2015-2016 school year, there were 199 students…

Due to not completing the tuition fee, the students could not open their transcripts at the school, even though they had paid the money and kept the receipt from the Ca Mau Department of Health staff.

To ensure the rights of students, health sector leaders have worked with Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy to find a solution, while waiting for the investigation agency to determine who must return the misappropriated money.

In addition, the province has agreed with the training facility that from this school year, the school will be responsible for collecting tuition fees from students studying at the school's address.
