(Baonghean.vn) - This year, the green squash crop grown on alluvial land in Do Luong has achieved very high productivity, however, currently the price of green squash on the market is falling, green squash is piled up in the fields, and farmers who grow squash are in need of product rescue.

Mr. Phung Van Dung's family in Luu Quang hamlet, Luu Son commune this year planted 2.2 hectares of green squash on the alluvial land along the Lam River. He sowed the squash on the 25th of the 11th lunar month and planted it on the alluvial land on the 20th of the 12th lunar month. The squash plants grew very well. Currently, the yield is 4 tons/sao. However, pumpkin priceAt the beginning of the year, it was 12 thousand VND/kg, but now it has dropped to below 5 thousand VND/kg.

Mr. Dung said: “Previously, this land was abandoned, I invested over 400 million VND here to grow squash. I grow squash according to the correct process, ensuring it is disease-free. Currently, it is very difficult to sell, I hope everyone will rescue me so I can plant another crop.”

Currently, Mr. Dung's family's green squash, in addition to being stored at home and in the warehouse, is mostly piled up in the fields in very large quantities and there are no traders coming to buy them. According to calculations, the current amount of squash is 200 tons.

To help farmers grow pumpkins, the Party Committee and the government of Luu Son Commune - Do Luong have called on departments, branches, and traders inside and outside the province to come and buy. However, traders are still not very "picky" about buying pumpkins at the present time.

Mr. Tran Thanh Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Luu Son Commune - Do Luong said:“Implementing the policy of renovating abandoned land, many farmers have invested in growing large quantities of squash on alluvial land and achieved high yields. However, due to market prices and the Covid-19 pandemic, prices have dropped very low. We need everyone to join hands to buy squash to support farmers.”

Following the same planting season as Mr. Dung, many households in Do Luong are suffering from a backlog of green squash products. However, households that planted 1 month earlier have had their entire crop sold out at prices ranging from 5,000 to 7,000 VND/kg. Currently, these households are continuing to plant a new crop of green squash. Typically, there is a household that has invested in growing up to 8 hectares of green squash.

Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh - Pumpkin grower in Trung Son commune - Do Luong shared: "To choose the right seasongrow pumpkinTo achieve efficiency and sell well, we grow 2 crops per year, the fruit crop from the 9th lunar month to the 12th lunar month, the main crop from the 3rd lunar month to the 5th lunar month.

According to experienced pumpkin growers, pumpkin growers are now completely dependent on market prices. To avoid stockpiling and losses, pumpkin growers must accept to follow market prices and sell promptly to recover capital for reproduction.
