Tens of thousands of people attend the Con Temple Festival

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 28 (January 21), within the framework of the Con Temple Festival (Hoang Mai Town), tens of thousands of tourists and local people came to participate in the palanquin procession and cheer for the traditional boat race in 2016.

From early morning, tens of thousands of people and tourists from all over the country were present at Con Trong Temple to participate in the palanquin procession and organize the Cau Ngu ceremony according to local customs. The palanquin procession started from the inner temple area to the beach - where the Cau Ngu ceremony took place. Along with the palanquin procession on land, 8 boats on water also paraded from Con Trong Temple to Con Ngoai Temple and returned to gather in front of the Temple.

The team participating in the offering ceremony includes: the celebrant, officials, elders and generations of villagers, young women in traditional ao dai offering incense, flowers, offerings such as banh chung, banh giay, local products created by the labor of the people and the whole community.

The palanquin procession is considered the soul of the ancient festival, and especially in the Con Temple festival, the custom of "vomiting run" is considered a unique feature of the people here.

On the same day, the traditional boat racing took place at the Con Temple festival. This year, there were 8 teams participating in the boat racing, including: Quynh Nghia, Quynh Tho, Son Hai communes (Quynh Luu); Quynh Phuong, Quynh Di wards and Quynh Lap commune (Hoang Mai town); Hung Nguyen and Yen Thanh districts.

The starting and finishing points are located under Lach Con Bridge. Each team of 24 participants will use their strength and experience on the water to overcome the 1 km race, then return. On the shore, tens of thousands of tourists and locals cheered enthusiastically for the teams.

At the end of the tournament, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to Quynh Lap commune, the second prize to Quynh Di ward and the third prize to Son Hai and Quynh Phuong communes.
