Provisions to bring the Vietnamese revolution firmly into the new era

In the new era, we continue to firmly follow the path of national independence and socialism under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam - the decisive factor in creating historic achievements over the past 95 years.

The path of radical revolution

In the world, there are few international communist and workers' parties that have such distinctive characteristics as the Communist Party of Vietnam. Our Party was born on the foundation of Marxist-Leninist ideology; it is the result of the Vietnamese workers' movement and the product of Vietnamese patriotism.

According to Dr. Nhi Le - former Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine, our Party is not only the leader of the revolution, but the Party is the "offspring" of the working people, especially the Party is the servant of the people. Those are the three most fundamental features that make up the position, prestige and strength of the Party.

The historical reality of the struggle for independence and national liberation of Vietnam in the years 1930-1945 has shown that, among a "forest" of political parties with different revolutionary tendencies and paths, the Communist Party of Vietnam, although newly established and still young, quickly emerged to hold the flag of revolutionary leadership with a correct revolutionary path, which is: national independence associated with socialism. The goal of the Communist Party of Vietnam's establishment is to aim for national independence and build socialism.

National independence is closely linked to socialism - the Party's will and the people's aspirations have met to create an unparalleled source of strength for the great national unity bloc under the leadership of the Party, contributing to the victory of the cause of national liberation and the protection, construction and development of the country. National independence is the aspiration of humanity, of all nations and peoples in the world. Therefore, this is a matter of the times.

For the past 95 years, the Party has followed the wind of the times, considering it as a platform for action and a revolutionary goal. But the path of national independence of the Vietnamese revolution is towards and linked to socialism, that is the path of radical and revolutionary national independence.

According to Dr. Nhi Le, by that path we have overcome 100 years of colonial slavery when our Party was only 15 years old. By that path and goal, we have gone through major resistance wars in the 20th century and are maintaining national independence, at the same time, making breakthroughs in national development in the 21st century.

Firmly following the chosen path, building socialism with Vietnamese characteristics

On the threshold of a new era, based on historical experience and revolutionary lessons over the past 95 years, our Party needs more than ever to continue to demonstrate more strongly its position and role as leader of the Vietnamese revolution, as President Ho Chi Minh advised: “Our Party is a ruling party. Each Party member and cadre must be truly imbued with revolutionary ethics, truly thrifty, honest, fair-minded and impartial. We must keep our Party truly clean, worthy of being the leader, the truly loyal servant of the people”, and at the same time, firmly follow the path of national independence associated with socialism.

Researching the process of the Party leading the Vietnamese revolution over the past 95 years, especially the 40 years of renovation, Associate Professor - Doctor Bui Dinh Phong - Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics said that right from the beginning of the renovation process, entering the 6th Congress, the Party affirmed the goal of national independence associated with socialism and 2 strategic tasks: building and defending the socialist Fatherland.

Through the Party Congresses up to the 13th Congress, the first lesson basically affirmed by the Party is that national independence is closely linked to socialism on the foundation of Marxism-Leninism. With that awareness, our Party has had implementation guidelines and directions on Party building, economic, cultural-social development, State building; promoting the strength of great national unity, combining national strength with the strength of the times...

Since then, the country has achieved results of great historical significance, thereby helping Vietnam accumulate position and strength for breakthrough development in the next period. Independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity are maintained; national and ethnic interests are guaranteed. The size of the economy in 2023 is 96 times larger than in 1986.

Vietnam is among the 40 countries with the largest economies in the world and the top 20 economies in terms of trade and foreign investment attraction; has diplomatic relations with 194 countries that are members of the United Nations; builds partnerships, strategic cooperation, and comprehensive strategic partnerships with all major powers in the world and the region.

With such a foundation, position and prestige, the country under the leadership of the Party is confidently, self-reliant, self-reliant, firmly entering a new, higher stage of development, moving towards prosperity, civilization, happiness and power as wished by President Ho Chi Minh and the entire nation.

In that process, Associate Professor, Doctor Bui Dinh Phong believes that national independence associated with socialism, the vivid reality of 40 years of renovation, the support of the people, and the country's position in the international arena are the provisions for the Party to lead the nation into a new era, with a model of socialism typical of Vietnam.

“We always respect objective laws; we start from reality; we take the quintessence, absorb and exploit the quintessence of the times, but we always stand on Vietnamese soil. We always start from Vietnam. And so, the current achievements bear the mark of Vietnam. And now we can affirm that it is Vietnamese Socialism, not Socialism in Vietnam. To say Vietnamese Socialism means to carry the identity, character, soul, intelligence and spirit of the Vietnamese people,” Mr. Bui Dinh Phong emphasized.

Looking forward to the 100th anniversary of the glorious Party's founding and the 100th anniversary of the Nation's founding, we firmly believe that our Party will certainly successfully fulfill the sacred mission and noble responsibility entrusted by the working class, laboring people and the entire nation, for a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized, happy Vietnam, steadily advancing towards socialism./.
